Something to Smile About - Issue #6

Yes. It’s summer. Yes, if you have children, they’re home with you. All the time. This need not frighten you. Remember, they still go to school 8-9 months of the year, and there are many things we can learn from them if we only stop and listen.

Taking a glass-of-koolaid-half-full approach, Lori from Georgia sent me these pearls.

YELP! – If you’re traveling this summer, here’s a great place to start reviewing good things to do and places to eat in your destination city. Heck – start with where you live. It’s fun.

The Offbeat section of USA Today – One of the places I always start my day. It always helps me feel a little more normal than I thought I was the day before :)

Weather Underground – Sure, Weather.com has its fancy-spiffy 3d radar thingie, but give me Weather Underground – by weather nerds for weather nerds.

BBQ Sauce of the Month Club: They scour the country for great-tasting, hard-to-find gourmet sauces and rubs. Easy for dad to better enjoy his smoked meats.

30 Upcoming Movie Sequels: They’re making another Beverly Hills Cop movie … among others … is this a good thing? Most 30-45 year old fathers will certainly think so.

Geoff Shackelford’s Golf Blog: If dad’s enjoys Golf Digest or watching golf on TV, he’ll love this guy’s blog. The best golf writing on the internet he’s not reading.

Audible: Great subscription-based service for downloading books to your iPod. Highly recommend. Should only get better as Amazon recently bought them.
