STSA #35: How hot is it?

Something to Smile About :)

Okay. Sorry. Not trying to pile on, and I hope it’s cool where you live, but it’s been awful here. In the time-honored, sticky-seat, sweaty-at-7-in-the-morning tradition, here are any number of ways to prove your point the next time the heat hits you like a scalded shovel.

Bet We Can Get You to Smile Again, Visit Epic Dental!

It’s so hot …

It’s so hot, today I saw two trees fighting over a dog.

It’s so hot, today I saw a chicken lay a fried egg.

It’s so hot, today I saw a funeral procession pull into a Dairy Queen.

It’s so hot, birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground

It’s so hot, you can eat hot peppers to cool off your mouth.

It’s so hot, you can make instant sun tea.

It’s so hot, when the temperature drops below 95, you reach for a light sweater.

It’s so hot, you discover that it takes only 2 fingers to drive your car.

It’s so hot, hot water now comes out of both taps.

Think cool thoughts, my friends. Did you know, by the way, that the xylitol in Epic Dental’s gum and mints actually cools off your mouth? Wild, eh?

Got something that makes you smile? Please, do send it along!

And, here, as always are some sweet links to enjoy.

Did you see this? A robber felt guilty and confessed his sins … and gave back the cash!

Strange Sunday Laws: And on the Seventh Day … he legislated … evidently.

Time Mourns The Death of Handwriting: Bizarre, but when you think about it … how many letters do you write and send anymore?

Woot: Every night at midnight, they put a limited quantity of some new thing – usually technological in nature – on sale at a really, really good price. Plus, the stories accompanying the items are almost always funny. Bargains AND humor. Love it!

STSA #34

Something to Smile About :)

Hello again from the swinging heat of Summer. Did you have a good Fourth? (Or Canada Day if you’re one of our many friends north of the border.)

We traveled to mom and dad’s – which involved four different airplanes. I love air travel (as opposed to my husband). Clearly over the years, it’s gotten better – consider the Army’s actual regulations for aircraft operation … from 1920!

Bet We Can Get You to Smile Again, Visit Epic Dental!

1. Don’t take the machine into the air unless you are satisfied it will fly.

2. Never leave the ground with the motor leaking.

3. Don’t turn sharply when taxiing. Instead of turning sharp, have someone lift the tail around.

4. Pilots should carry hankies in a handy place to wipe off goggles.

5. Riding on the steps, wings, or rail of the machine is prohibited.

6. In case the engine fails on takeoff, land straight ahead regardless of obstacles.

7. No machine must taxi faster than a man can walk.

8. Learn to gauge altitude, especially on landing.

9. If you see another machine near you, get out of the way.
10. Do not trust altitude instruments.

11. Hedge-hopping will not be tolerated.

12. Don’t attempt to force the machine onto the ground with more than flying speed. The result is bouncing.

13. Pilots will not wear spurs while flying.

14. Do not use aeronautical gasoline in cars or motorcycles.

Yep. It makes you shake your head, but it also brings a smile to your face when you have seatback TVs, overhead storage, and no need for goggles.

Smiling, too, about the fact that our latest round of dental checkups once again revealed no cavities! Thanks again, Epic!!  Got something that makes you smile? Please, do send it along!

Texting Teen Falls Down Manhole: Did you see this?? At first she was perfectly okay – except for her pride. Now, evidently, her family intends to sue. (Pausing to let you form your own opinion …)

Can You Be Friends With Your Mom … On Facebook?: Very funny story from NPR.

Fast Food: Ads vs. Reality: This is pretty funny. Guy went and bought each item and brought it home and photographed immediately. Guess he didn’t have anyone pinning each sesame seed on his buns ….

If you’ve ever had or known children, check out this eBay auction: Hilarious story of Pokemon cards – the auction is actually over, BUT … someone saved the page (without the images of the actual cards) …
