STSA # 69: Kindergarten Thanksgiving Cookbook

Something to Smile About :)

Before I introduce you to a suggested Thanksgiving menu courtesy of Mrs. Geraghty’s Kindergarten Class (thanks to Lindsey in Naperville), I’d like to take a quick moment for a shameless, blatant, new product announcement from our friends and sponsors at Epic Dental.

Now, the hard-haired, shiny-shod, thin-souled attorneys over at one of the giant dental care conglomerates threatened us not to call our harmless (unless you happen to be bacteria) little pieces of gum ‘smile vitamins’ even though the sassy new flip-top bottle containing 50 pieces of xylitol-powered Epic Gum looks like a vitamin bottle. We can’t even joke about calling them ‘smile vitamins.’ Understand? Even at this gob-smackingly, lip-lickingly, head-shakingly absurd introductory price of just $4.99, we can’t call them ‘smile vitamins.’

How about calling them a purse-sized, 50-count gankmouth-be-gone buffet for only $4.99?

Is that Thankgivingish enough for ya?

(Wait, did I spell ‘souled’ the right way up there? I meant their shoes, of course :))

Bet We Can Get You to Smile Again, Visit Epic Dental!

A Thanksgiving Cookbook by Mrs. Geraghty’s Kindergarten Class NOTE: Mrs. Geraghty will not be reponsible for medical bills resulting from use of her cookbook.

Turkey: First you find a turkey and kill it. Cut it open. Put it in a pan. Pour milk in the pan. Put a little chicken with it. Put salsa on it. Take out of pan. Put it on the board. Cut into little pieces. Put on a rack. Put in the oven for 7 minutes at 10 degrees. Take out of the oven and put eensy weensy bit of sugar on it. Put a little more salsa on it. Then you eat it. (Lauren)

Chicken Pie: Put the chicken in the pot and put the salad and cheese and mustard and then you mix it all together. Then put chicken sauce and stir it all around again. Then you cook it for 5 minutes at 9 degrees. Then you eat it. (William)

Corn: My mom buys it. Then you throw it. Then you cook it. Then you eat it. (Jennie)

Mashed Potatoes: First you read the box. Get a piece of water. Stir. Then you eat them. (Nicholas)

Applesauce: Go to the store and buy some apples, and then you squish them up. Then you put them in a jar that says, “Applesauce”. Then you eat it. (Shelby)

Pumpkin Pie: First you buy a pumpkin and smash it real good. Then it is all done. And you cook it in the oven for 12 minutes and 4 degrees. Then you eat it. (Christopher)

Cookies: Buy some dough and smash it and cut them out. Then put them in the oven for 2 hours at 100 degrees. Then take them out and dry them off. Then it’s time to eat them. (Christa)

There you go. And my goodness, what could be better after a meal like that than a quick fresh-me-up hit from the Epic Dental horn of freshness plenty? If only they made a purse-sized, 50-count, sassy new container of gum plus an introductory price of just $4.99 on their Xylitol-powered, cavity-fighting Epic Dentally goodness.

STSA # 68: Deep, Sugar-Induced Thoughts

Something to Smile About :)

Hiya! Did you survive Halloween? We made the tragic mistake of buying candy we liked for the trick-or-treaters. Suffice to say, we were all hopped up on sugar around here.

We were talking with some of our friends about the crazy things kids say after burrowing into the sweet treats, and it reminded me of this piece Sandra out in Tacoma sent me: some kids were asked to imitate those old Deep Thoughts from Jack Handy. Enjoy.

Bet We Can Get You to Smile Again, Visit Epic Dental!

When I go to heaven, I want to see my grandpa again. But he better have lost the nose hair and the old-man smell. Age 5

I once heard the voice of God. It said “Vrrrrmmmmm.” Unless it was just a lawn mower. Age 11

I don’t know about you, but I enjoy watching paint dry. I imagine that the wet paint is a big freshwater lake that is the only source of water for some tiny cities by the lake. As the lake gets drier, the population gets more desperate, and sometimes there are water riots. Once there was a big fire and everyone died. Age 13

Whenever I start getting sad about where I am in my life, I think about the last words of my favorite uncle: “A truck!” Age 15

Democracy is a beautiful thing, except for that part about letting just any old yokel vote. Age 10

Give me the strength to change the things I can, the grace to accept the things I cannot, and a great big bag of money. Age 13

I bet living in a nudist colony takes all the fun out of Halloween. Age 13

For centuries, people thought the moon was made of green cheese. Then the astronauts found that the moon is really a big hard rock. That’s what happens to cheese when you leave it out. Age 6

Once, I wept for I had no shoes. Then I came upon a man who had no feet. So I took his shoes. I mean, it’s not like he really needed them, right? Age 15

If we could just get everyone to close their eyes and visualize world peace for an hour, imagine how serene and quiet it would be until the looting started. Age 15

Aren’t those funny? Someone sent me some Thanksgiving recipes sent in by children, and - as long as you promise not to actually follow them - I’ll share them next time. Happy November. It’s almost the holiday season, and another good time to hit up our sponsor for some Xylitol-powered, cavity-fighting Epic Dentally goodness to counter all that Halloween Candy.
