Hi there! Hope your summer is cooking along nicely. We had a regal Father’s Day celebration here at home for husband and also for dad. We missed it by a couple days here at the ole’ Something To Smile About HQ, so we’ll make up for lost time … as always, in the spirit of love. Thanks to Judy in Chicago for sharing …

This is a story which is perfectly logical to all males: A wife asks her husband: “Could you please go shopping for me and buy one carton of milk, and if they have eggs, get 6.” A short time later the husband comes back with 6 cartons of milk. The wife asks him: “Why did you buy 6 cartons of milk?” He replied, “They had eggs.” (shaking head sadly) Sigh. So true.

Happy June! Happy Summer! Since we had a particularly cold and loooooong winter, and we’ve got all of our three children back home for probably the last time, we’re going to make the most of staying here and cooking on the grill.

Thanks to Melissa in Columbia, MD, for sharing these 11 steps to a perfect BBQ everytime. So true!

1) The woman buys the food. 2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the side dishes, and makes dessert. 3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill – beer in hand. 4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL. 5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery. 6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the situation. 7) The man takes the meat off the grill and hands it to the woman. The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces and brings them to the table. 9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes. 10) Everyone praises the man and thanks him for his cooking efforts. 11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed her night off. Upon seeing her annoyed reaction, he concludes there’s just no pleasing some women.

Mmm hmm. That sounds about right. Now, bring us your finest meats and cheeses.
