Something to Smile About - Father’s Day Edition

Hope all’s well. The upcoming Father’s Day is a special one in our family as my dad’s been pretty sick recently. Not to turn all Harry Chapin on you (go ahead, I’ll wait while some of our younger readers google him … … … okay? Okay.), but can you believe it’s been a year since last summer and last father’s day? They go so fast, don’t they.

Here’s to a great summer for all of us - daughters and dads and mothers and sons! This comes from Deanna in Pensacola, Florida - Thanks for sharing! I had seen something similar to this but not as well written … :)

A father passing by his son’s bedroom was astonished to see the bed was nicely made and everything was picked up. Then he saw an envelope propped up prominently on the center of the bed. It was addressed, “Dad.”

Dear Dad,

It is with great regret and sorrow that I’m writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with mom and you.

I’ve been finding real passion with Joan. It took me a bit to get past the piercings and the spiderweb tattoo on her neck, but the real person inside is beautiful. And wise. At first I thought it weird dating a woman yours and mom’s age, but my friends think it’s awesome.

And speaking of passion, dad, you should know that she’s pregnant, and Joan said that we will be very happy eventually. She wants to have many, many more children with me and that’s now one of my dreams too. I know she will love them as much as the four she has from her first two marriages.

Don’t worry Dad. Someday I’m sure we’ll be back to visit so you can get to know your grandchildren.

Your son,

Benjamin

P. S. Dad, none of the above is true. I’m over at the neighbor’s house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than my report card that’s in my desk center drawer. I love you! Call when it is safe for me to come home.

Well. I was on the fence about that. Humor’s a touchy thing. I laughed out loud, but I realize it had a couple things in there that - even though the message was good - might have a crossed a line with you.

I hope not, but more importantly, I hope you’ll let me know if it did, and that’s also why I encourage you to send your own ideas and thoughts as to what makes you smile and what’s worth sharing! So - send me something to smile about!

To make up for it - here’s another of our super-triple-secret password-protected Epic Dental Deals (say that five times fast).

And here are the Father’s Day Edition of fun and useful links.

Happy Father’s Day. Happy Summer. Happy Happy until next time!

Big Smiles!
