Something to Smile About :)

Hello again. If this is your first email from us, welcome to our growing little group. If this is your second, welcome back! If this is your third, then you should lower your dosage since this is just the second we’ve done.

There, now that we’ve got the old business out of the way, I want to quickly say thanks for the response from our first issue. I’m so glad so many of you are way funnier than me. This is going to be pretty cool between the smiley stories and the occasional password deals and the links and everything.

This week’s a little different. I really would like to include not only humor but things that make your heart smile, too ...

"It's the little things, isn't it? Carly emailed this in from Washington state about her son, Henry:

Visit EpicDental.com

I write him what he calls "love notes" and tape them to his morning snack for school. It will contain anything from "you did a great job following directions this morning - keep making it a great day" to "you are the best gift God has ever made for a Mommy".

When I first started doing this, he never commented about them. Then I had surgery and forgot to write love notes for about a week. One morning as I was getting his snack ready, he said, "Mommy, can I please have a love note today? I really miss them". THAT made me tear up and I haven't missed a day since because I know what a difference it makes to his life everyday.

A few months ago, he said, "Mom, I'm running out of room in my backpack for my snacks". I asked him what he had in there that made him run out of room.

He went to his backpack, opened the snack area, and showed me ALL of his love notes that he had saved all year from me!

We bought a special box to put all the love notes in to save forever and ever! What a blessing to make such a difference in his life with just a few sentences about how special he is everyday!”

In Henry’s honor, our friends at Epic will give you a great deal on their perfect-for-crowded-lunchboxes-pockets-or-purses tiny little mint tins - but as will be our custom, you’ll need the super-slippery-secret password to take advantage of all the minty (or fruity) goodness. One day soon we’ll devote an entire issue to the contradictory existence of fruity mints ...

This week’s fun and useful links include a story about Johnny the Bagger, grilling tips, thoughtful gift ideas for under $20, and with April being Autism Awareness Month, I’m sending you a chance to do a little good in honor of my nephew, Will.

Remember, it’ll be way more fun if you send me stuff that made you smile, so I can share it with everyone. Who knows how much we'll all learn from one other.

So - send me something to smile about! See you next time with the Mother’s Day edition!

Big Smiles!
