If you’re like me, you’ve been lured into way too many yard sales. You know the type: You show up early on a Saturday morning, hoping to get a good deal, and instead you find yourself sifting through boxes of old cassette tapes and trying not to make eye contact with the stained mattress propped up on the lawn.

Despite the old adage, at a yard sale, one man’s trash more often than not becomes another man’s trash.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of so-called “food” products out there that are just like a yard sale. You need to be wary of the junk additive salesmen out there; those who would take their junk and sell it back to you as treasure.

At Epic, we take a lot of pride in the quality of our products. We built this company on sugar-free products we knew were safe for our own families.

Each ingredient in our recipes has been carefully hand-selected to provide the best in quality and taste. And, because we believe in telling the whole truth around here, we thought we’d take the time to make an exhaustive list of all the ingredients we use in Epic Gum & Mints and share why we believe each one the best option available for our customers and our families.

Epic Gum Ingredients:

• Gum Base
• Natural Flavors

• Calcium Carbonate
• Carnauba Wax

Epic Mints Ingredients:

Xylitol:

The reason we’re here, after all. When I found out about the incredible powers of xylitol, from its incredible taste to its cavity-crushing capabilities, I was so excited I went out and started my own company to spread the word. 13 years later my enthusiasm is as contagious as ever. Xylitol is the special sauce in everything we do at Epic.

We extract our xylitol from non-GMO corn (in fact, our original 4 flavors of gum are non-GMO Project Verified, and we’re working on the paperwork to get our other products verified as well).

Gum Base:

Gum Base is the rubbery stuff that makes your gum chewy. It’s what gives Epic Gum that satisfying gum-chomping sensation.

Natural Flavors:

We use a variety of natural flavors to make sure all our products taste the way they should. Our flavors work together seamlessly with xylitol to give our gums & mints that delicious taste that keeps you coming back for more.

We’re a little more secretive about the specifics here, but it’s more of a “Protect The Recipe From Our Rivals That Want To Rip It Off” kind of a secret than a “Don’t Tell My Wife I’ve Constructed A Monster In The Basement, And It’s Alive!” kind of a secret.

Soy Lecithin:

Soy Lecithin is simply soybean oil that’s had the soy proteins removed, making it safe for most people with soy allergies. We use it in our gums to keep our flavors and ingredients from separating before your order arrives at your door.

Gum Arabic/Gum Acacia:

Gum Arabic (or Gum Acacia, as it’s often known) is a kind of sap, harvested naturally from acacia trees. In our gum and mints, it works as a stabilizer, keeping things together.

Calcium Carbonate:

Calcium Carbonate is a naturally-occurring mineral, and we use it in our gum to help control the color of each piece without resorting to questionable artificial bleaching or coloring.

Carnauba Wax:

Naturally produced in the leaves of carnauba palm trees, we use Carnauba Wax in our gum to ensure that each piece has the perfect finishing shine.

Magnesium Stearate:

Magnesium Stearate is used in trace amounts as a part of our manufacturing process for our mints. You can think of it like cooking spray -- it helps our mints to come out of their presses in cute little tablets instead of a crumbling mess.
